Photo-RX was a 2 kW, high-throughput, current-controlled POWER-LED system developed in 2020–2021 at ICIQ, within Dr. Julio Lloret-Fillol’s innovation group and tied to the start-up Treellum Technologies.
I designed the digitally-controlled constant-current power electronics for the LEDs and the main motherboard engine, including the architecture and IC interfacing (SPI, I2C) for DACs, ADCs and PMICs. I also designed the low-voltage power supplies and the IoT/UX layer, with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi running on ESP32 and STM32F1/F4 microcontrollers.
It was a formative start-up experience that fuelled my passion for entrepreneurship. After I moved on to Lear, the prototype was commercialised in 2022, led by my colleague Mykola Lazoryshyn.
